Spirit is the real. Everything else is an appearance that follows it.

Haanel ends his case with the plainest sentence he can write: spirituality is quite practical — very practical, intensely practical. It teaches that spirit is the real, and that conditions are appearances which respond to it. He wants no gap between the mystical and the useful; the whole point of the course is that inner work shows up in outer circumstances, invoices, and relationships.

Why this matters — Part 23

Financial failure is one of the most demoralising kinds, because it looks like a verdict on your worth in numbers. Haanel strips the shame out of it and replaces it with a mechanism: your results trace back to your service, and your service traces back to your thinking. Fear is the dam; service is the channel. Whatever you have left, you still have something to offer somebody — and that offer is where this level starts.

Spirituality is quite practical, very practical, intensely practical. It teaches that Spirit is the Real Thing, the Whole Thing, and that Matter is but plastic stuff, which Spirit is able to create, mould, manipulate, and fashion to its will. Spirituality is the most practical thing in the world – the only really and absolutely practical thing that there is!
