The one line to keep

Look for the logical basis of your own faith.

Concentrate on your power to create, and look for insight and perception — specifically, find a logical basis for the faith that is in you. Haanel points at air as the physical analogue: you live and move and have your being in an energy you cannot see, and without it you die. The spiritual man depends on a subtler energy in exactly the same way. No effect can be produced until a seed is sown, and the fruit always matches the seed.
Why this matters — Part 18
Lost motivation is often mistaken for lost capacity. Haanel says power is lost by non-use — like a limb in a cast. The loop he describes is the escape route: you don't wait for interest to return; you begin by paying attention, and interest follows, then more attention. Start with the smallest object of genuine curiosity you can find, and let the loop turn. And note: in low mood, motivation does not arrive before action — it arrives after it, if it arrives at all that day. The action counts either way.

Take this to the week

Haanel's study questions for Part 18 run out before its exercise block, so this sublevel closes with the Part's own reflection prompt instead of a review question.

What seed are you sowing repeatedly this week? Name it, then name the fruit it is likely to produce — and decide if you want to eat that.

Answer it in the journal if it is easier than answering it in your head. One honest paragraph is enough.

33

This week concentrate upon your power to create; seek insight, perception; try to find a logical basis for the faith which is in you. Let the thought dwell on the fact that the physical man lives and moves and has his being in the sustainer of all organic life – air, that he must breathe to live. Then let the thought rest on the fact that the spiritual man also lives and moves and has his being in a similar but subtler energy upon which he must depend for life, and that as in the physical world no life assumes form until after a seed is sown, and no higher fruit than that of the parent stock can be produced; so in the spiritual world no effect can be produced until the seed is sown, and the fruit will depend upon the nature of the seed, so that the results which you secure depend upon your perception of law in the mighty domain of causation, the highest evolution of human consciousness. “There is no thought in my mind but it quickly tends to convert itself into a power and organizes a huge instrumentality of means.” - Emerson
